Elise Chabbey (born April 24, 1993 in Geneva ) is a Swiss cyclist and former canoeist .

Athletic career

Elise Chabbey is an all-round athlete. She began her career as a canoeist and as such took part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London . She started in the slalom of the single kayaks and finished 20th. She then took a sports break to finish her medical studies . She also achieved success as a long-distance runner and won the half marathon at the Geneva Marathon .

In 2016, Chabbey started cycling and in 2018 received a contract with Cogeas-Mettler , and for the 2019 season she switched to Bigla . In 2017 Elise Chabbey was fifth in the Swiss road championship, sixth in 2018 and runner-up in 2019. In 2019 she also won the Tour of Bern . At the UCI Road World Championships in 2019 , she finished 21st in the road race , 22nd in the individual time trial and fifth in the mixed relay with the Swiss team .

When many cycling races were canceled in spring 2020 due to the corona pandemic , Elise Chabbey, who had meanwhile completed her studies, volunteered to work as a doctor at Geneva University Hospital .
