Life

Klingemann, the daughter of a rifle manufacturer, definitely wanted to “go to the theater”. The father did not ignore the wishes of his child and approved her first debut in her hometown. This took place under the most favorable auspices , and the subsequent engagement offered her a suitable sphere of activity in the field of lively youthful lovers. On her travels, during which she made artistic progress, she met her future husband August Klingemann . She grew more and more at the side of her husband and took a very respected position in the Braunschweig theater , where he was general director.

On May 3, 1810, she married Klingemann, with whom she had two daughters who also became actresses. Together with them she played at the National Theater in Zurich from 1834 to 1836.

In particular, her achievements as “Maiden of Orleans”, “Maria Stuart”, “Queen” ( Don Carlos ) not only met with undivided applause from the audience, but were also recognized enviously by the colleagues.

After her husband died, she worked with her son-in-law Karl Beurer , who directed the stages in Magdeburg, Cologne, Augsburg and, after successfully performing at the Hofburgtheater under Joseph Schreyvogel , retired entirely to private life in Heidelberg, where she died very old .
