Eliseo Prado began his football career in 1948 with CA River Plate , the noble club of Argentina from the capital Buenos Aires, where he was born in 1929. In a team with Ángel Labruna , Félix Loustau , Norberto Menéndez and Amadeo Carrizo , Prado won the Argentine football championship five times during his time at River Plate. He won his first title with River Plate in the 1952 season, when River Plate took first place in the Primera División with a point ahead of the Racing Club from Avellaneda . In the following season Prado and River Plate managed to defend their title when they were first with four points ahead of CA Vélez Sársfield . After 1954 only the third place behind Boca Juniors and Independiente Avellaneda was occupied, River Plate ranked 1955 after the last game day again in first place in the Argentine first division, this time with seven points ahead of Racing Avellaneda. In the following two years, Eliseo Prado won his remaining titles with River Plate. In 1959 he left the club after 147 games and 61 goals in the Primera División and joined Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata from the city of the same name, the capital of the province of Buenos Aires . At the club, which was also in the midfield of the Primera División at the time and has not even become Argentine football champions, Prado played 89 times in four years from 1959 to 1963. In those 89 games he scored thirteen goals. In 1963 he moved to Sportivo Italiano, where he let his career end.

With the national team of his home country, he took part in the 1958 World Cup in Sweden , but where he was not necessarily one of the regulars of his team and was only used once. In the first round game, he stormed alongside Omar Corbatta , Norberto Menéndez , Alfredo Rojas and Osvaldo Cruz , but could not prevent the 1: 3 defeat against the defending champions from Germany . His team won the second group game against Northern Ireland 3-1, but a 1: 6 in the last group game against Czechoslovakia prevented a possible entry into the quarter-finals.
