Eliza Iulia Buceschi (born August 1, 1993 in Baia Mare ) is a Romanian handball player .

Career

Eliza Buceschi began playing handball in 2005 for the Romanian club HCM Baia Mare . In the 2011/12 season, the backcourt player was the most successful goalscorer in the Romanian league with 100 goals. Then Buceschi moved to the Romanian top club CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea , but she was loaned to HCM Baia Mare for the 2012/13 season. After this season she was back under contract with HCM Baia Mare. With Baia Mare she won the Romanian Cup in 2013, 2014 and 2015, the Romanian Supercup in 2013 and 2014 and the Romanian Championship in 2014. In the summer of 2015, Buceschi joined the German Bundesliga club Thuringian HC . With the THC she won the German championship in 2016. From July 2016 she was under contract with the Danish first division club FC Midtjylland Håndbold . Her contract was terminated prematurely in December 2016. She then joined the Romanian first division club HC Dunărea Brăila . She has been playing for ASC Corona 2010 Brașov since the 2017/18 season . In the summer of 2019, she switched to league rivals CSM Bucharest .

Buceschi has been a member of the Romanian national team since 2011 . So far, Buceschi has played 78 international matches, scoring 189 goals. With Romania she won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Cup. She was a member of the Romanian contingent for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . At the European Championships in 2018 she finished fourth with Romania and was the second most successful goalscorer of the tournament with 45 goals.

Her parents Costică Buceschi and Carmen Buceschi also played handball professionally.
