Elizabeth Ann Macgregor OBE (* 1958 in Dundee , Scotland ) is a Scottish art historian , curator and director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney .

life and work

Elizabeth Ann Macgregor studied art history at the University of Edinburgh and then worked as a curator and driver at the Scottish Arts Council's traveling gallery. After four years with the Arts Council of Great Britain , she was director of the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham from 1989 to 1999 . There she worked on a program for artists from different cultural backgrounds; These artists include Zarina Bhimji , Lucia Nogueira , Adrian Piper , Martha Rosler , Yinka Shonibare and Nancy Spero . In 1999 Macgregor accepted the post of director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney in Sydney .

She regularly participates in conferences, seminars and radio and television programs. Elizabeth Ann Macgregor serves on the governing body of Fauna & Flora International Australia , the Council of Australian Art Museum Directors and the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM). She was a member of the search committee for dOCUMENTA (13) .
