Liz Edgar

Elizabeth "Liz" Edgar (born April 28, 1943 as Elizabeth Broome ; † April 25, 2020 ) was a British show jumper .

Liz Edgar grew up in the Welsh county of Monmouthshire , her older brother is the show jumper David Broome . In 1965 she married the show jumper Ted Edgar and moved to live with him in Leek Wootton, a village near Warwick . Their daughter Marie was born in 1971.

Liz Edgar took part in the Horse of the Year Show for the first time at the age of 12 . She has won the British Young Show Jumping Championship twice.

Liz Edgar celebrated her greatest sporting successes in the early 1980s. In the summer of 1980, she won with Everest Forever the Grand Prix of Aachen . The following year she came fourth with the British team at the European Championships . Edgar took part in World Cup finals several times and represented her home country several times in Nations Cups. She was the only rider to win the traditional Queen Elizabeth Cup, which is held as part of the British Nations Cup tournament, five times (1977, 1979, 1981, 1982 and 1986).
