Elizabeth Kaeton

Elizabeth Kaeton is an evangelist , Anglican priestess and pastor of St. Paul's Congregation in Chatham, New Jersey in the Diocese of Newark , USA .

Originally trained as a nurse (since 1970 she worked as a “Registered Nurse”), in 1976 she met her current partner. Together, the two women also raised six of their own and six foster children. Since 1983 both have worked mainly in the treatment of AIDS patients. From these experiences Kaeton felt her calling as a priestess and then studied until 1986 at the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge (Massachusetts) , from which she received the degree " Master of Divinity " (M.Div.). In the same year she was ordained a priestess by the Bishop of Maine .

For five years she served as an assistant vicar in the AIDS Resource Center of St. Barnabas Congregation in Newark and was also the priest-in-charge of the House of Prayer in the same city. 1991–96 she was involved in “Urban Ministry” as a contact person for the poor, homeless and minorities, before she was called by Bishop John Spong to the position of “Canon Missioner” of the “Oasis Ministry”. There she was a teacher, evangelist, pastor, and advocate for the lesbian , gay , bisexual and transgender congregations. In 2002 she moved to her current position as pastor of a suburban church in New Jersey .
