Eljezer Schkedi

Eljezer Schkedi ( Hebrew אליעזר שקדי; * August 16, 1957 in Israel ) is an Aluf (אלוף; German about major general ) of the Israeli armed forces . From 2004 to 2008 he was the commander of the Israeli Air Force .

Life

Shkedi was born in Israel, went to school in Kfar Saba and was drafted into military service in 1975 . He attended flight school voluntarily and graduated as a fighter pilot . Shkedi became a member of several military units before he was appointed to the Hazerim base of the Air Force and served as a flight instructor . He was also stationed there during the Lebanon War in 1982 . In this war he shot down two enemy planes.

In the mid-1980s he studied at Ben-Gurion University and received a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science . He continued his military service in the Air Force until the mid-1990s before starting a Masters degree in Systems Management at the Naval Postgraduate School in the United States .

Shkedi took up his position as commander of the Israeli Air Force on April 4, 2004. In this position he was appointed commander of hostilities against states that do not share a border with Israel.
