Ell Wendt

Ell Wendt (born as Ell Peltzer ; * February 24, 1896 in Düren , † November 24, 1944 in Schliersee ) was a German writer .

Life and work

Ell Petzer was born in Düren, Germany, in 1896. After attending school and training as a pianist, she started writing by working for her husband Albert Wendt's publishing house. First she published stories in magazines, and finally, in 1939, her first novels, “Sommergäste in Sophienlust” and “Love in Danger”, the first in particular being very successful. For her novel "The proud nymph" published in 1942, Ell Wendt was awarded the Wilhelm Raabe Prize in 1943.

She died in Schliersee in 1944.
