Ella Gmeiner

Ella Gmeiner , married. Ella Gmeiner-Klein (born November 12, 1874 in Kronstadt , Transylvania , † December 24, 1954 in Stuttgart ) was a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Her sister was the well-known Lied singer Lula Mysz-Gmeiner , her brother the bass-baritone Rudolf Gmeiner . She was a student of Elka Gerster . She made her debut in 1904 at the Berlin National Theater . This was followed by engagements at the Weimar Court Theater and the Munich Court Opera as well as guest performances in Wiesbaden , Stuttgart, Cologne , Amsterdam , at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London , Amsterdam and Bucharest .

From 1922 she devoted herself exclusively to concert and lieder singing . She was also active as a music teacher and singing teacher.
