Ellis, Beggs & Howard was a British pop group from London , which was founded in 1987 by singer Austin Howard, keyboardist Simon Peter Ellis and bassist Nick Beggs (born  December 15, 1961 in Winslow, Buckinghamshire , England ).

biography

Simon Ellis originally wanted to become a professional footballer , but then studied graphics . Nick Beggs was a member of the Kajagoogoo group until 1985 . Austin Howard, who also worked as a model and chorister , founded a trio called The Biz with the singers Yasmin Evans and Suzette Smithson in 1983 , which had a respectable success with the song We're Gonna Groove Tonight . The family names of the three protagonists formed the band name: Ellis, Beggs & Howard. In addition to Simon Ellis, Nick Beggs and Austin Howard, Robbie France (drums) and Paul Harvey (guitar) were other members of the band.

The first single Big Bubbles, No Troubles , released in June 1988, became a hit in many European countries and achieved top 20 placements in Germany , Austria and Switzerland , for example . The follow-up single Where Did Tomorrow Go? and the album Homelands were medium chart successes in Germany at the end of the year. Although there was considerable tension within the band after the failure of Homelands in England, Ellis, Beggs & Howard recorded nine more tracks in their own studio in London between 1990 and 1992, which have never been officially released to this day - although the title Chocolate Coated Money was played in some London clubs around 1991. After completing these tracks, the band broke up. Nick Beggs finally released the recorded material in 1997 as an autographed CRr entitled The Lost Years Vol. 1 . Other musicians who contributed to this release are Warren Cuccurullo (guitarist with Frank Zappa from 1979 to 1981, later with Duran Duran) and Robert Fripp .
