The Ellis River is a left tributary of the Androscoggin River in Oxford County in the southwest of the US state Maine .
The Ellis River forms the outflow of Ellis Pond . It initially flows mainly in a south-westerly direction to Andover . The Maine State Route 120 runs along the river. In Andover, the West Branch Ellis River flows into the river from the right. The Ellis River then turns south-southeast and passes South Andover . Now the Maine State Route 5 follows the river, which meanders strongly in the lower reaches . Eventually the Ellis River meets the Androscoggin River flowing east. The Ellis River has a length of 37 km.
