Elmar Giglinger (born June 4, 1965 in Kempten (Allgäu) ) is a German journalist. From 2010 to 2015 he was managing director of the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg for the business area location marketing, which also includes the promotion of innovative audiovisual content.

Career

Giglinger studied business administration and trained as a radio journalist. In 1991 he became CvD at Radio NRW . At the end of 1993 he switched to VIVA TV as an editor / producer . From 1998 he acted as program director at VIVA Zwei . At the beginning of 2000, he moved to MTV Networks Central Europe as program director and member of the management team. In the course of the acquisition of VIVA Medien AG, from the beginning of 2005, as Senior Vice President, he was responsible for the company's music channels, MTV and VIVA TV in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. At times he was also responsible for the MTV Networks broadcasters in Eastern Europe, Benelux and Scandinavia. Under his leadership came u. a. Nora Tschirner , Charlotte Roche , Joko Winterscheidt , Niels Ruf , Jan Köppen , Johanna Klum , Hadnet Tesfai and many more in front of the television cameras for the first time. He was also responsible for a. Formats by Sarah Kuttner (“Kuttner”), Christian Ulmen (“Unter Ulmen”, “Ulmen's Order”), Christoph Schlingensief (“U 3000”) and Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre (“Reading Circle”). From the end of 2007 he also acted as program director for Comedy Central Germany . At the end of March 2009, Giglinger left MTV Networks and founded EG Media & Music Consulting, for which he advised branded companies, media entrepreneurs and TV broadcasters in Germany and abroad, before taking over the location marketing division at Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH in October 2010. Giglinger focused the work of his division primarily on the development of the digital media industry in Berlin and Brandenburg. In 2015 he left the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

Elmar Giglinger is chairman of the Creative Industries committee of the Berlin Chamber of Commerce, member of the board of trustees of the FilmFestival Cottbus and the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf and of the advisory board of Berlin Music Week.
