Elmar May
Elmar Mai (born July 2, 1948 in Bayreuth ) is a German biologist , author , film director and science journalist. He is best known for his live appearances in the ZDF advice magazine Volle Kanne - Service daily .
Life
Elmar Mai grew up in Würzburg . After graduating from high school and doing basic military service in Marienheide , he first studied chemistry in Cologne from 1971; soon he switched to biology. He completed his studies with a degree in biology. Since 1984 he has worked for various public broadcasters as an author and director. In addition, Mai works as a book author, lecturer, author of specialist articles for print media, tour guide for nature trips and as a conceptioner and director of industrial films. Since a stay in the Dominican Republic in 1993, Mai has been researching the flora and fauna of the country on regular trips and is committed to their conservation on a political level. Elmar Mai is divorced and has one son.
TV work
From 1984 to 2010 Mai realized more than 200 contributions for the magazine broadcast ARD-Ratgeber Heim + Garten . In addition, Mai has been working with cameraman Jens Hamann since 1984 as a director for Die Sendung mit der Maus . Your contributions answer basic questions that children have about animals and plants. Mai is known to a broader television audience through his regular live appearances in over 500 programs of the ZDF magazine Volle Kanne - Service daily , where he has been giving gardening tips since 1999. In addition, the magazine regularly features films on special topics relating to nature and gardens.

- Since 1989 Mai has been the initiator of the "first plant exchange market in Germany" (E. Mai), which he has organized twice a year in Rösrath since then .
