Elmar Samsinger

Elmar Samsinger (born December 21, 1954 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian exhibition organizer, non-fiction author and editor.

Life

Samsinger studied law in Innsbruck and Linz. For years he has been dealing with the Balkans , the Orient and Austria-Hungary under cultural-historical and touristic aspects and has a relevant collection. In 2002 he was a scientific advisor to the ARTE documentary “The Sultan's Empire ” on the rise and fall of the Ottomans . In 2006 he curated the special exhibition “Orient all inclusive” in the Touriseum in Merano and in the Biblioteca Statale di Trieste . A journey to the Orient on the trail of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy ”. For the “Long Night of the Museums” in 2011, Samsinger designed the “Exhibition World Pictures - Picture Worlds. The perception of the foreign around 1900 ”; for the “Long Night of Museums 2012” there, together with Ilvy Rodler, the photo project “Integration”. In 2014, Samsinger curated the exhibition “With pictures in the abyss. The First World War in Spotlights "and in 2018 in the Austrian Cultural Forum Istanbul and in the Yunus Emre Institute Vienna the exhibition" The Sultan was a very dear gentleman.
