Elophila feili is a butterfly from the family of Crambidae .
features
The moths reach a wingspan of 18 to 25 millimeters. The forewings are ocher colored and have a dark brown central field. The submargin line is only visible on the Costa loader. The hind wings are ocher colored. The middle field is dark brown and has an ocher colored discocellular spot. The submargin line is dark brown.
The genital fittings of the males are similar to that of Elophila nymphaeata . The Valven are smaller, have three long Costalborsten and a stronger Gnathos . The valves are about twice as long as the uncus, while they are 2.4 times as long in E. nymphaeata .
The genital armature of the females is similar to that of E. nymphaeata , but the apophyses are longer, especially the apophyses posteriores. The Apophyses posteriores are about 1.14 times as long as the laying tube , whereas in E. nymphaeata they are only 0.58 times as long.
Similar species
The fore wings of the similar species Elophila nymphaeata have a dark basic color and a white central field. In E. feili the basic color is paler than the dark brown middle field.
distribution
Elophila feili has only been found in Portugal ( Algarve , Odeceixe ) and Spain ( Seville Province , El Ronquillo ; Cáceres Province , Alcuéscar ).
biology
The moths fly in May and from August to September. It is believed that two generations are formed per year. The pre-imaginal stages are unknown. In Portugal, the moths were collected near the coast.
