Alsatian wine queen

The Alsatian Wine Queen (French: Reine des vins d'Alsace ) represents the Alsace wine-growing region . It has been chosen every year since 1954 at the Wine Forum ( Foire aux vins ) in Colmar , organized by the Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins d'Alsace (CIVA) and the General Commission ( commissariat général ) of the Wine Forum.

Each candidate must be a French citizen, at least 18, at most 25 years old and unmarried at the time of election. She has to work in an Alsatian winery and should have knowledge of Alsatian viticulture, its wines, gastronomy and regional tourism.

Their position is unique in France, as there are currently no other regional or national wine queens there. The choice of a Reine des vins de France is only proven for the 1930s .
