The Cheval de Frize by Els Vilars

Els Vilars is a unique archaeological monument on the peninsula . It was built around 750 BC. At the beginning of the Iron Age . The complex was already in the middle of the 4th century BC. Abandoned for no apparent reason. The rounded shape is reminiscent of similar earlier, contemporaneous or later buildings in other regions (e.g. Arkaim and Sintaschta in Russia, castles on Öland ), each of which had no fortification function. The oldest counterpart is the small, four-port Demircihöyük in Turkey. It existed for 500–600 years at the same time as Troy I in the early half of the 3rd millennium BC. BC Els Vilars is surrounded by walls around 5.0 meters wide, a cheval de frize made of stones, a 13.0 meter wide and 4.0 meter deep moat and a dozen towers. Its builders were Celtiberians who buried their dead in urns .
