Elsa & Ernst August Eicker

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elsa & Ernst August Eicker is a singing duo of Christian music work We sing for Jesus in the style of salvation and gospel music consisting of the married couple Elsa Eicker in the soprano voice and Ernst August Eicker in the tenor voice .

history

Elsa and Ernst August Eicker had been singing together since 1955 , especially in the context of local church services, when they were discovered by the organist Peter van Woerden in his opening program on a concert tour . The music producer in the Christian record label Happy Message in the song of the book and record publisher Hermann Schulte in Wetzlar invited the duet to audition and subsequent sound recording in 1962. Your first single Is it true that Jesus died for me? appeared in 1963. Even before the release of the phonogram, the titles of Evangeliums-Rundfunk and Trans World Radio were quickly known to a wide audience.

Further recordings with the duet followed until Ernst August Eicker founded the Wir-singen-für-Jesus-Chor in 1966, giving his musical work a different focus. From then on, Elsa & Ernst August Eicker usually only appeared as a complementary act in their choir concerts. Through the emergence of other choirs and groups such as the children's choir under the direction of Elsa Eicker, a guitar choir and the family quartet Die Eickers , the musical work We sing for Jesus was created , under whose roof the duet is still active today.

Now in active retirement, the duet appeared again increasingly as such and followed various concert invitations, from the Drachenfels ship to the nostalgic concert series Unforgotten - songs that remain of the Evangeliums-Rundfunks and Gerth Medien . In 2010 the CD Unforgotten - songs that remain: Elsa & Ernst August Eicker with Wir-singen-für-Jesus-Choirs with their early recordings from the 1960s was digitized and remastered .
