The we-sing-for-Jesus Choir (founded as: youth choir "We sing for Jesus" , later Choir "We sing for Jesus" , incorrect name partly "Eicker Chorus") was a mixed choir of Christian music under led by Ernst August Eicker .
history
The foundation of the choir is based on a merger of the FeG Bever parish choir with a neighboring parish on the occasion of an evangelism week in spring 1966 with Robert Bührer . Initially, a single appearance was planned. The choir under Ernst August Eicker, an experienced leader of, among other things, Janz team campaign choirs and so-called alliance choirs of the German Evangelical Alliance , however, impressed Bührer. He invited the singers to accompany him to his next event in Strasbourg . After another successful collaboration, Bührer again asked the choir to accompany them to their next appointment in Rehe in the Westerwald . Bührer, as the then head of Radio Evangile , the French offshoot of Evangeliums-Rundfunk , invited its German director Horst Marquardt and Margret Birkenfeld , then head of the music department of the Christian book and record publisher Hermann Schulte , to its label Happy Messages in the song of the choir director Duo with his wife when Elsa & Ernst August Eicker had been producing singles since 1963. Instead of its dissolution, the choir found itself now in the situation of its own naming for its records and radio appearances. With the formulation “We sing for Jesus” reflecting the motivation of the choir and the comment “Youth Choir” placed in front by the publisher Hermann Schulte for marketing reasons , the first name finally became the youth choir “We sing for Jesus” .
The choir community grew over several decades into a supra-regional ensemble, whose eighty members sometimes traveled hours to the weekly rehearsals. The choir has performed nationwide to concerts and the media, including in the ZDF - TV service , on, toured internationally in countries such as Israel , Brazil , the USA , France , Canada and Italy , and produced about 30 recordings, singles and albums, with a Total number of over 200 music track recordings. Last but not least, the choir developed into a whole musical work with other ensembles such as the Wir-singen-für-Jesus children's choir , Wir-singen-für-Jesus guitar choir , or the family quartet Die Eickers .
In 2004 Ernst August Eicker retired and the Wir-Singen-für-Jesus-Choir dissolved. Since then, the former members have met repeatedly for revival concerts.
