Elsa Artadi i Vila
Elsa Artadi i Vila (born August 19, 1976 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan economist and politician. In June 2018 she was appointed Presidential Minister and spokeswoman for the Catalan government to the Torra cabinet . She left this on March 25, 2019.
Life
Elsa Artadi i Vila studied economics at the Pompeu Fabra University and at Harvard University . She worked in various international organizations and at the World Bank . In 2004 she worked at Xavier Sala on the Global Competitiveness Report . From 2006 to 2011 she taught at the Università Bocconi in Milan . Since 2011 she has been employed in the regional administration of Catalonia .
During the Catalonia crisis , Artadi joined the Partit Demòcrata Europeu Català in 2016 . In the early regional election ordered by the Spanish central government in December 2017, Artadi was elected from the list of Junts per Catalunya to the regional parliament, which was constituted in January 2018.
Since the Junts per Catalunya could not enforce the re-election of the deposed and exiled politician Carles Puigdemont as President of the Generalitat de Catalunya , the Catalan autonomous government, Artadi was brought into play as a candidate for president in March 2018.
