Else Höfs (nee Voigt , married Kirchmann ; born September 2, 1876 in Berlin , † 1945 in Stralsund ) was a German politician of the SPD and a member of the German Constituent Assembly .

Life

The daughter of the cigar dealer Georg Voigt attended the citizens' school in Szczecin . The Voigt family lived in Greifenhagen from 1887 to 1889 , as the father had been expelled from Stettin under the Socialist Act. In 1894 she married the master painter Pauf Höfs, who later became city councilor for the SPD in Stettin.

In 1905 Else Höfs joined the SPD and became the woman's representative for female SPD members in Stettin. From 1912 to 1933 she was a member of the district executive committee of the SPD in the province of Pomerania . During the First World War she worked as a nurse for the Red Cross in a hospital for a year and a half and also worked for the National Women's Service, war welfare and welfare work.

Else Höfs became a member of the Welfare, Youth and Orphan Office in Stettin in 1919. At the same time she chaired the district committee of the workers' welfare in Pomerania until 1933 . Also in 1919 she became a member of the constituent national assembly of the Weimar Republic . From 1920 to 1924 she was a city councilor in Szczecin and a member of the provincial parliament of the Pomeranian province . In 1921 she was elected to the Prussian state parliament, to which she belonged until 1928.

In 1932 she married the workers' secretary Karl Kirchmann .
