Elvis Jackson is a band from Slovenia who say they play “Ska Punk Hard Core Reggae Metal”.
Band history
Elvis Jackson was founded in 1997 by David Kovšca (vocals, trumpet), Erik Makuc (bass), Sašo Kotnik (drums) and Boštjan Beltram (guitar).
In 1999 the debut album Move Your Feet It's One O'Clock was released and was initially only pressed for the Slovenian market. The band also became known abroad through various compilations . A European tour through Croatia , Germany , Austria and Switzerland followed after the album was released. In 2000 the band provided the background music for the short film Jezni (Eng. Anger ) by the Slovenian director Špela Kuclar . After the sold out first edition of the debut, a re-release with new cover artwork and bonus tracks follows.
Go Home and Practice was released in 2001. In addition, two videos were shot that could only be seen on Slovenian television. Antonio Zamora "Bongo" Caceres joined the band and has been taking care of the percussion , the background vocals and performing as a dancer ever since . Work on the successor to Go Home and Practice began in Austria; the album was finally completed in Cologne .
Despite international preparatory work, the album Summer Edition 2003 first had to be self-distributed. After Kotnik left in 2003, Nenad Kostadinovski took over his position, which in January 2004 gave way to Sergej Randjelovič. In 2004 the band found distribution for other European countries with the renowned Ska label Grover Records and its sub-label Elmo Rec. In 2007 Marko Soršak joined as the new drummer. In December 2009 Elvis Jackson played several concerts in Germany in support of Itchy Poopzkid .
Music genre
The band plays an unusual mix of several styles. The focus is on Ska-Punk , but the influences also extend into reggae . Typical metal riffs can also be found in the individual songs.
