history

Grover Records was founded in 1993 by the concert and event organizer Moskito Promotion and its owner Oswald Münnig (front man of Sunny Domestozs ) in order to give bands promoted by them a release opportunity. The first record released was Walkin 'Down Brentford Road by Dutch skaband Mr. Review .

Over the years, Grover Records has developed into a central label in the ska scene. On the one hand through numerous new publications, on the other hand through reprints of out of print records. The artists published by Grover Records include internationally influential actors such as Laurel Aitken , Bad Manners , The Skatalites and The Toasters . Furthermore, newcomer bands such as The Upsessions , The Moon Invaders or Two Tone Club are released .

Grover Records has two sub-labels under its roof, Elmo Records and Vinyl Only Records (VOR). On Elmo you publish new and partly unknown bands. VOR only releases records that have already been released on CD by other labels that are not interested in vinyl releases. In addition, VOR is releasing old Northern Soul tracks in a compilation series .

With Easter Ska Jam and Skankin 'Round The Xmas Tree, Grover Records launched two now renowned festival tours. 2012 starts with the Judge Dread Memorial , which is also traveling all over Europe.
