Günter Kerbler

Günter Kerbler (born July 7, 1955 in Horn , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian real estate investor and manager and is an expert in old building, residential and commercial developments. Kerbler is the founder of conwert Immobilien Invest SE and Kerbler Holding.

Career

Youth and education

Kerbler was born in Horn in Lower Austria and attended the commercial academy here , which he left without a degree. At a young age, he earned his money with part-time and summer jobs as an ice cream seller, used car dealer or DJ. (see Neubauer 2015: 1-7)

Working life

Günter Kerbler worked for Wiener Städtische as an insurance agent for 12 years . Kerbler bought his first apartment building in the 1980s and sold it twice as much a little later.

Kerbler had been an independent real estate agent since 1984, and in 1988 he founded his first real estate company. In 2001, Kerbler and his business partner Johannes Kowar founded conwert Immobilien Invest AG, which has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange since November 2002 . Conwert Immobilien Invest AG specialized in buying and renting old apartments as well as their renovation and owned several 1,000 residential properties in Germany and abroad during their heyday. The core business was the renovation of houses with apartments of category B and C, which were converted to a category A apartment. Kerbler was CEO of conwert until the spring of 2007 and moved to the Supervisory Board in June 2007 for health reasons. In 2009 he sold his conwert shares and finally left in October 2010.

Kerbler Holding GmbH

In 2009 Günter Kerbler founded Kerbler Holding GmbH. Based in Vienna, this company has cross-sector holdings in various business fields at home and abroad. The core business continues to be real estate. Kerbler Holding holds, among other things, shares in Wiener Privatbank, which took over Valartis Bank AG in 2016. Kerbler is also behind Vienna Estate SE and cetus Baudevelopment GmbH.

Project tallest wooden skyscraper in the world

The realization of the wooden high-rise “ HoHo Wien ” in the Seestadt Aspern has been the goal of Günter Kerblers and cetus Baudevelopment GmbH since 2015 . With a height of 84 meters, this will be the tallest wooden skyscraper in the world.

Media investor

Among other things, Kerbler was a partner in the Arbeiter-Zeitung, which was closed in 1991 . He was also involved in the publishers Erb and New Business and the Viennese city magazine Falter until 1999 . In addition, for a number of years he owned forty percent of the Vienna cinema operator Kiba , which also included the Wiener Gartenbaukino and the Metro-Kino . Tourism and gastronomy

Günter Kerbler revitalized the Spittelberg district in Vienna's seventh district , which earned him the nickname "Spittelberg-Kaiser". This was followed by the Shultz bar, the Lux and the Italo chain “Francesco”, from which he separated again. In 1998 and 1999 Kerbler opened the two bars Guess Club I and II in Kaunizgasse and Kärntner Straße. Kerbler has been involved in a hotel complex in the Dominican Republic since 2001. Since 2012 he has been involved with ex-conwert partner Johann Kowar in the Gerstner Group, which includes the areas of courtyard sugar bakery, culinary art and hotels. Prefabricated house or furniture industry

The prefabricated house company Griffner and Schachnerhaus and the furniture manufacturer Gruber & Schlager had to file for bankruptcy in 2013 and 2015 after renovation attempts due to management errors and a decline in the market.

Private life

Kerbler has been married for 40 years and has four daughters.
