Emil Berggren (born August 3, 1986 in Eskilstuna ) is a former Swedish handball player .

Career

Emil Berggren played in his home country with IF Guif , Hornskrokens IF, HK Eskil, Redbergslids IK and IK Sävehof , with whom he was Swedish champion three times in a row from 2010 to 2012. The 1.95 meter tall backcourt player then moved to the German second division Bergischer HC , with whom he was promoted to the first division in 2013. In December 2013, the BHC announced that the contract with Berggren, which expired at the end of the 2013/14 season, would not be extended. He then joined the Danish first division club Aalborg Håndbold . In 2016 he joined the German Bundesliga club HSG Wetzlar . In the 2017/18 season he was under contract with the Hungarian club CYEB Budakalász . After Berggren was subsequently without a contract, he joined the Swedish association IFK Ystad HK in October 2018 . In the summer of 2019 he ended his career and took over the office of sports director at IK Sävehof. In addition, Berggren was to take over the position of assistant coach for the men's team, but this position was filled elsewhere. After Jonas Larholm resigned from his coaching position at IK Sävehof in September 2019, he took over this position together with Kristian Berndtsson and Peter Möller .

Berggren was part of the Swedish junior national team, with which he became world champion in 2007.

Private

Berggren is in a relationship with the Swedish handball player Jamina Roberts . He has a son with Roberts.
