Emil Drăgănescu

Emil Drăgănescu (born December 18, 1919 in Galați , † July 17, 2003  ?) Was a politician of the Romanian Communist Party (PCR).

Life

In August 1965, Drăgănescu was appointed as Minister of Electricity in the cabinet of Prime Minister Ion Gheorghe Maurer and then became Vice-President of the Council of Ministers as part of a government reshuffle in July 1968. In addition, he became Minister for Transport and Telecommunications in October 1972. After Prime Minister Manea Mănescu took office in March 1974, he remained Vice Prime Minister and was also chairman of the State Planning Commission from March 1974 to March 1975 and also a member of the Defense Council of the Socialist Republic of Romania , one of the highest bodies in the Socialist Republic and from February 1974 to March 1975 the main body for national defense issues. In March 1975, however, Mihai Marinescu followed him as chairman of the state planning commission and as a member of the defense council.

However, he himself remained Vice Prime Minister until March 1978, before he was then chairman of the National Council for Physical Education and Sport from March to August 1978 and then Minister of Sport. After Prime Minister Ilie Verdeț took office in March 1979, he became Minister for Tourism and Sports and held this office until March 1982.
