Emil Grützner

Carl August Emil Grützner (born March 29, 1841 in Bautzen , † November 29, 1888 in Dresden ) was an industrialist and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Grützner attended commercial schools in Dresden and Gotha and then went on long trips. During a two-year stay in England, he got to know the flax spinning industry that was emerging there. In 1866 he founded the Grützner & Faltis flax spinning mill in Hainitz together with Johann Faltis . Because of the great economic success, this had to be expanded several times.

For many years he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a committee member of the Association of German Linen Industrialists. Due to severe gout, he retired in 1882 and bought the Grützner Villa in Dresden in 1887 . His grave is in the Inner Neustadt cemetery in Dresden.

From 1878 to 1881 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the German Conservative Party and the constituency of Saxony 2 ( Löbau ).
