Career

Haag started playing football at IK Sleipner in his hometown of Norrköping. In 1932 he came to Stockholm for his training as a police officer, where he joined the AIK . Here he played in the following years mainly in the club's second team. On April 22, 1934 he made his debut for the club in the 3-0 defeat against Gothenburg club GAIS in the Allsvenskan, until his second use against the same opponent he had to wait over two years until May 1936. In 1939 he played his last of three league games for AIK against his former club IK Sleipner.

In the summer of 1939, Haag moved to local competitor Hammarby IF , who had been promoted to Allsvenskan. At the side of Sven Bergqvist , Folke Adamsson , Henry Andersson and Holger Nurmela , he played 16 of the 22 first division games in the 1939/40 season, scoring a goal in the game against IK Brage in May 1940. As the bottom of the table, the club rose straight back to the second division. After the end of the season he was still in the national jersey in June 1940 when the Swedish national team met his ex-club AIK - due to the Second World War , there were hardly any official selection games against other national teams. Until his untimely death at the age of 27, he played 36 second division games for HIF, without any further scoring.
