Emil Heuser (born March 24, 1851 in Reipoltskirchen ; † February 24, 1928 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a German author and porcelain expert.

life and work

Emil Heuser was born in 1851 on the Ausbacherhof near Reipoltskirchen as the son of a railway engineer. After school in a Bavarian boarding school - the Palatinate was then part of Bavaria - and military service, Heuser went to Turkey as a railroad technician in 1871 , where he stayed until 1890. He then worked for the Pfalzbahn until his retirement on April 30, 1920 . Heuser was a soldier in the Franco-German War and, when he was over 60, again in World War I , where he had achieved the rank of major in 1915 . He died on February 24, 1928 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. In addition to his work, Emil Heuser occupied himself with historical research and homeland maintenance all his life. He also became a sought-after porcelain expert and was co-founder and curator of the Landau Museum. In his private life, he had one of the largest collections of old Palatine book printing and literature, coins and ceramics , which, however, were scattered all over the world after his death and can only be traced back to old auction catalogs. Through his extensive and thorough scientific work he provided important foundations for today's historical research about the Palatinate. For many years he was also editor of the Palatinate Museum magazine .
