Emil Hollack

Emil Hollack (born August 17, 1860 in Grünwalde ; † May 20, 1924 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German teacher and amateur prehistory.

life and work

Hollack's parents were the teacher Friedrich Hollack and his wife Johanne Luise geb. Saigge .

From 1877 to 1880 Hollack attended the teachers' seminar in Waldau . Then he was a teacher in Mühlhausen (1880-1882), Labiau (1883-1886) and Königsberg (1886/87). He passed the secondary school teacher examination in 1893 and the rector examination in 1894. From October 1902 he was a teacher at the state building trade school. In 1924 he retired.

With his interest in prehistory and early history , he found the ancient society Prussia early on . He worked there under Adalbert Bezzenberger and later led excavations . The result of his work was the prehistoric overview map of East Prussia published in 1908 with an explanatory volume. With the Königsberg city school council Friedrich Tromnau he published the history of the school system of the city of Königsberg in 1899 .

Hollack was married to Pauline geb. Passarge , who gave him a son and three daughters.
