Emil Knöll (born December 24, 1889 in Basel ; † July 11, 1972 in Basel ) was a Swiss sculptor .

Works

Emil Knöll's works include figurative sculptures and sculptures, goldsmith's work, tombs and fountains. In 1927 he received a federal art grant and in 1950 he took part in the anniversary exhibition at the Kunsthalle Basel. Some of his works emerged from the Basel-Stadt art credit . Knöll was married to Hildi Knöll-Widmer (1894–1950). Their common grave is in the Hörnli cemetery .

  • The trough originally comes from the Württemberger-Hof, which was built in 1556 and had to give way to the new building of the art museum in 1932. The bronze sculpture was designed by Emil Knöll (1889–1972) and placed on this trough in 1936. It shows a snake with a cat's head with water flowing out of its nostrils.
