Emil Schwartze

Emil Schwartze (born November 13, 1888 in Bremen , † April 17, 1950 in Wiesbaden ) was a German teacher, most recently director of the old grammar school in Bremen .

biography

Schwartze was the son of a Jewish clerk. In 1892 the family became Protestant. He studied philology and history at the University of Marburg and obtained his doctorate in 1914. phil. at the University of Wroclaw .

Since 1915 he was a teacher and then teacher at the Old School in Bremen. In 1933 he was national. The NS Education Senator Richard von Hoff (NSDAP) decided that Schwartze could remain in school. The Reich governor for Oldenburg and Bremen, Carl Röver (NSDAP), retired in September 1933 for racial reasons. He then worked as a private tutor; a job at a Protestant private school did not come about. In 1943 he was employed by the archive as an employee. In 1944 he was a prisoner in the Farge concentration camp for a short time .

After the Second World War , Schwartze was reinstated in the school service in 1945 as a senior teacher. From October 1, 1945 to 1950 (†) he was director of the old grammar school as successor to Johannes (Hans) Schaal . He died unexpectedly in 1950 during a conference in Wiesbaden. Erwin Lebek followed him as director. He was buried in the Riensberg cemetery . Schwartze was married.
