Emil Zenz

Emil Zenz (born July 24, 1912 in Trier ; † February 3, 1994 there ) was a German historian and politician (CDU).

Zenz studied history, German, English and philosophy at the universities of Freiburg , London and Cologne . In 1939 he received his doctorate in Cologne with a dissertation on "The political and cultural relations between the Trier country and France in the late 18th century," Dr. phil.

He then worked as a teacher and from 1957 onwards he devoted himself full-time to politics. For more than twenty years he was head of department ("mayor") of the city of Trier. In addition, he published numerous books, essays and reviews, especially on the church history of the Trier area and the Trier city history.
