Émile Jean Josse Emmanuel Ghislain de Meester de Ravestein (born May 24, 1812 in Mechelen , † April 20, 1889 in the Château de Ravestein in Hever, now part of Boortmeerbeek ) was a Belgian ambassador .

Life

Emile de Meester received his doctorate in law , became embassy secretary in Berlin and, in 1848, first-class embassy secretary in Rome . From October 1849 to January 1850 he was chargé d'affaires and from June 1850 to 1859 envoy to the Holy See . De Meester was also an art collector and left large parts of his collection to the municipal museum in Mechelen and the Royal Museum of Art and History in Brussels .
