Emilia Ciosu
Emilia Ciosu (born February 7, 1971 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian table tennis player . In the 1990s she won the European ranking tournament and took part in the Olympic Games twice.
youth
The right-hander Emilia Ciosu already attracted attention in her youth through international success. So in 1995 she was second in the European Championships for Cadets behind Otilia Bădescu , with whom she was also European Champion in doubles and with the Romanian team in this tournament. In 1986 she was in the final of the European Junior Championships in mixed with the Croatian Zoran Primorac , two years later she reached the individual semi-finals.
Adults
In the period from 1986 to 1994 Emilia Ciosu was Romanian champion 11 times, five times in singles, four times in doubles and twice in mixed. From 1991 to 1997 she took part in four world championships and was fourth with the women's team in 1995 . She was also nominated four times for European championships . In 1992 she became European champion with the team. In 1996 she won bronze in doubles with Otilia Bădescu and in mixed with Lucjan Błaszczyk . Another success was the victory in the European ranking tournament Europe TOP-12 in 1993 before Olga Nemes .
Emilia Ciosu qualified for the Summer Olympics twice. In 1992 she reached the quarter-finals in singles, where she was eliminated against the Korean Hyeon Jeong-Hwa. The double with Adriana Năstase-Simion-Zamfir failed in the qualification. Also in the qualification, she was eliminated in 1996 in both singles and doubles with Georgeta Cojocaru.
In the 1994/95 season she helped the German top division club Spvg. Birkener Höhe (Rhineland-Palatinate) to rise through a top game.
Her best place in the ITTF world rankings was 24th at the end of 1995.
