Émilie Serain (born March 22, 1984 ) is a former Swiss freestyle skier in the ski cross discipline .

Career

At the beginning of her sports career, Serain was an alpine ski racer , but no major successes were achieved. Her best result in an FIS race was a 17th place in March 2002. She then switched to the freestyle discipline ski cross . She made her debut in the Freestyle World Cup on January 18, 2003 in Laax , where she finished 5th and won World Cup points straight away. In the following years it established itself just behind the world's best and regularly achieved top 10 placements.

In 2007 Serain won the Swiss championship for the first time. On February 2, 2008 she achieved her first podium in a World Cup race when she was third in Deer Valley . One month later, on March 6th, 2008, she achieved her best World Cup result so far with second place in Grindelwald. After becoming Swiss champion for the second time and sixth at the 2009 World Cup , another third place came at the end of the 2008/09 season in La Plagne . Serain qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics , but suffered a knee injury in training prior to the Cypress Mountain Olympics and had to end the season early.

Serain ended her active career after the 2013/14 season .
