Emilio Gordoa

Emilio Gordoa Rodriguez (* 1987 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican improvisation musician ( vibraphone ).

Act

Gordoa comes from a family of artists. He began his musical education at a private university before moving to the conservatory in his hometown. There he studied classical percussion . After having also worked as an organizer of new music festivals, he moved to Berlin in 2012, where he became a member of the real-time music sound collective and dealt intensively with improvisation, sound research and performance. He worked with musicians such as John Russell , Tristan Honsinger , John Edwards , Ken Vandermark , John Butcher , Evan Parker , Axel Dörner , Tony Buck , Tobias Delius , Kazuhisa Uchihashi , Ignaz Schick , Jaap Blonk or Burkhard Beins and presented several publications.

In 2018 Gordoa could be seen in Nate Wooley's Seven Storey Mountain at the moers festival . He is rediscovering the vibraphone “through numerous playing techniques”, said the festival management; In 2019 he is the improviser in residence at the Moers Festival.
