Adam Pultz Melbye (* 1981 in Ribe ) is a Danish jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass , composition) who has lived in Berlin since 2013.

Live and act

Pultz studied double bass at the Music Conservatory in Esbjerg , then from 2013 to 2015 at the Rytmisk Music Conservatory in Copenhagen. From the mid-2000s he first worked in the Danish jazz scene; In 2007 he co-founded the label and musician collective Barefoot Records and later the venue Klub Kaktus (where events with improvised music have been taking place in Copenhagen since 2009), and in 2012 the Understrøm event series for experimental music. Since then he has worked in the Danish and international jazz and improvisation scene. a. with Akemi Nagao , Lotte Anker , Mark Sanders , Pat Thomas , Yasuhiro Yoshigaki , Kasper Tranberg , Chris Heenan , Harri Sjöström and Sture Ericson , with Anders Lindsjö in the St. Andby formation , with Håkon Berre and Stephan Sieben in Angel and in the electronic Duo with Mads Emil Nielsen .

In 2007 he recorded the album A Tale of Three Cities in a trio with Håkon Berre and Peter Brötzmann ; In 2013 he released the album Gullet (Barfoot Records). In 2015 Kinetics (The Path) was released , with Jacob Anderskov and Anders Vestergaard . Internationally he worked a. a. with Peter Brötzmann, Rudi Mahall , Frank Gratkowski , Magda Mayas , Mikołaj Trzaska , Jack Wright , Johannes Bauer , Tony Buck , Axel Dörner , Gerald Cleaver , Tobias Delius , Fred Lonberg-Holm , Paul Lovens , Peter Ole Jørgensen or Emilio Gordoa ; he also played with the London Improvisers Orchestra and Pierre Dørges New Jungle Orchestra.

As a composer he wrote music for various ensembles, theater and dance groups; also commissioned compositions for the Danish National Museum of Art in Copenhagen and Ålborg. He also works with the artist collective MAP, which created sound and video installations for museums in Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.
