Emilio Nava (born December 2, 2001 ) is an American tennis player .

Personal

Emilio Nava is the son of the two Mexican Olympians Xóchitl Escobedo and Eduardo Nava . His cousin Ernesto Escobedo is also a professional tennis player.

Career

Nava has played all junior Grand Slam tournaments since Wimbledon 2018 . At the US Open he was able to reach the final in doubles with his partner Axel Nefve. In 2019 in Melbourne he did the same in singles and doubles . This put him in 5th place in the junior ranking, his best placement to date. He is still eligible to play in the juniors until the end of 2019.

In 2018 he also gained his first experience in professional tennis. He played a handful of tournaments on the ITF Future Tour and his first match on the ATP Challenger Tour . In the individual, he was able to place in the tennis world rankings. In 2019 he received a wildcard for the individual competition from the tournament manager in Acapulco . There he was defeated by Mackenzie McDonald in two sets in the opening round . With his first victories at Challengers, he was able to collect first world ranking points in the following months and climbed into the top 600 in the world in singles and doubles.
