Emily Whigham

Emily Whigham (born March 30, 1976 in Bonn ) is a television presenter, producer and journalist. She became known in particular for her moderation work on the German television program NBC GIGA .

biography

After graduating from the Clara-Fey-Gymnasium in Bonn, she began an internship and traineeship at the music broadcaster VIVA in Cologne in 1995 , and in June 1997 she became the editor-in-chief of the programs Taste , Airplay Charts and LP Charts .

In 1998 she appeared in front of the cameras for the television station NBC Europe in Düsseldorf on the newly founded live broadcast GIGA , which lasted several hours . GIGA was an innovative television format that combined an afternoon live broadcast with its own website, thereby enabling interactive television, including the questions and wishes of mostly young viewers. As a so-called network reporter for the “Stars” area, she reported there on the basis of researched websites on news and celebrities from the media world and was also responsible for numerous interviews with studio guests.

Due to the initial success of the unusual television format, Whigham, like some of her fellow moderators, was invited to guest appearances on other television programs during this time and was therefore known to a larger audience. For example, she was a guest on the Harald Schmidt Show in May 2000 and on TV total with Stefan Raab in November 2002 .

In the fall of 2004, Emily Whigham left GIGA and went to Los Angeles as a freelance project worker to take over the project coordination and moderation of the Made in Germany film premieres at the AFI ( American Film Institute ) Film Festival 2004.

In spring 2005 she returned to Germany to work as a producer of Tango Film for MTV -Dokusoap Made and then in Düsseldorf to oversee the Diesel Wall project for the Italian fashion label Diesel .

In September 2005 she went to Qatar for three months and hosted a lifestyle program there.

June 2006 up to the attitude they had in program development and facilitation of KAI3 active, a new afternoon show of the regional private station NRW.TV . The interactive concept of the show was based on the former format of GIGA, and here too the production location was, as in its early days, in Düsseldorf. In addition to her moderation for the program KAI3, she also made regular presentations in the breakfast television program Guten Morgen NRW , also on NRW.TV.

Whigham also occasionally works as a freelance journalist for the Hollywood Reporter magazine , Deutsche Welle Radio (English program) and moderates various events.

From 2010 she was Apps night with Marko Bagic in the program to see that on various regional television as NRW.TV aired.

Trivia

Her father is the jazz musician Jiggs Whigham . According to her own statements, she often writes her own songs and lyrics and plays the piano. Whigham is married and the couple have one son.
