Emirates Triangular Tournament 1998

The Emirates Triangular Tournament 1998 was a three-nation tournament that was held from August 14 to 20, 1998 in England in one-day cricket . In addition to the hosts, teams from India and Sri Lanka took part in the tournament, which was part of the 1998 international cricket season . In the final, Sri Lanka was able to prevail against England with 5 wickets .

prehistory

Sri Lanka previously played a home tour against New Zealand , which they won 2–1 in the Test series, while India previously participated in the Coca-Cola Triangular Series in 1998 , which they also won. In addition, both teams previously met at a three-nation tournament in Sri Lanka . England previously played a home tour against South Africa .

format

In a preliminary round, each team played against each other once. There were two points for a win, one for a draw or no result. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
