Emma Mitchell (born September 19, 1992 in Kirkcaldy ) is a Scottish soccer player who is under contract with the English club Arsenal LFC and has played for the Scottish national team since 2011 . It can be used flexibly in defense and midfield .

Career

society

Mitchell began her career with the St Johnstone Girls team and moved to the Scottish champions Glasgow City LFC in summer 2008 - together with her national team colleague Lisa Evans . With Glasgow she won the championship four times from 2009 to 2012, the Scottish Cup twice and the League Cup once. She was in the starting line-up in 58 games for her club across all competitions and scored 52 goals. In the Champions League - Season 2011/12 Mitchell with her team reached the second round, eliminated but there against the German champions 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in with 0:17 to aggregate win.

In January 2013 Mitchell signed a contract with Bundesliga club SGS Essen , for which she made her debut on February 3, 2013 in the home game against FCR 2001 Duisburg . After just four months she turned her back on Germany and moved to Arsenal LFC in the English WSL in the summer of 2013 . With Arsenal they won the FA Cup and FA WSL Cup in their first season , but as third in the league, the team missed qualifying for the Champions League.

National team

Mitchell was the captain of the Scottish U-17 and U-19 national teams. In 2010 she qualified with the U-19 national team for the European Championship in Macedonia , where the team failed in the preliminary round. On May 18, 2011, at the age of 18, she made her debut for the Scottish national team in a friendly against France and scored her first international goal on August 4, 2012 against Iceland . In qualifying for the 2013 European Championship , she and her team reached the qualifying games for participation in the finals, but narrowly failed there to Spain .
