Emma Penella

Emma Penella (born March 2, 1931 in Madrid , Spain ; † August 27, 2007 ; born Manuela Ruiz Penella ) was a Spanish actress .

Penella has been in the movies, on stage, and on television. She was the sister of the actresses Elisa Montés and Terele Pávez , and granddaughter of the Spanish composer Manuel Penella . She was married to producer Emiliano Piedra .

Penella has been active since 1950; until the late 1960s she turned regularly alongside her work at the theater. Outstanding were her performances in the films Fedra ( Manuel Mur Oti , 1955) and El verdugo ( Luis García Berlanga , 1963). In the following decades she concentrated primarily on her stage work until she intensified her film work again in the mid-1980s. a. with Carlos Sauras Liebeszauber , this time also and more and more for television. There she also played in the soap Aquí no hay quien viva from 2003 to 2006 . Shooting for further episodes of the new series, La que se avecina , which started in 2007 , was interrupted by her death from episodes of diabetes .
