Emmanuel Maria Heufelder
Emmanuel Maria Heufelder OSB (born March 30, 1898 in Bad Tölz , † September 8, 1982 in Niederalteich ) was abbot of the Niederaltaich monastery .
Life
Born as Josef Heufelder, he entered the Benedictine Abbey of Schäftlarn in 1919 , where he took the religious name Emmanuel Maria.
After his appointment as prior of the Niederaltaich monastery in 1934, Heufelder was elected abbot in 1949, after the monastery became an independent abbey again. His motto was: In Christo unum - One in Christ . In 1968 the President of the Bavarian Benedictine Congregation accepted Abbot Emmanuel Maria's resignation, which he had to submit on his 70th birthday according to the congregation's statutes.
