Emmy Schaumann (born October 29, 1901 in Wandsbek ; † November 16, 1981 in Hamburg ) was a social democratic politician and member of the Hamburg parliament .

Life

Emmy Schaumann comes from an old Wandsbek working-class family with many children. She attended elementary school and had to work as a worker and seamstress immediately after finishing school. Her husband Albert Schaumann (1896–1979) was a councilor for the SPD in the then still independent city of Wandsbek. After the National Socialists came to power , he lost his post due to his impeachment, which meant "economic and emotional hardship" for his wife and family.

After the Second World War, Emmy Schaumann was an assessor in the Hamburg Administrative Court (1946) and a member of the social welfare authorities in 1947 and 1953. She was elected to the Hamburg citizenship in the first two democratic citizenship elections after the Second World War. During her time as a member of the citizenship, she was entered in the parliamentary files under the profession "housewife".
