Emrah Serbes
Emrah Serbes (born January 28, 1981 in Yalova ) is a Turkish writer .
Life
Emrah Serbes studied theater studies in Ankara . He wrote reviews for the Turkish feature section . His first novel was published in 2006, the second - also about Chief Inspector Behzat Ç. - followed in 2008. On this basis, a television series of the same name was produced in Turkey in 2010. For the script, he and Ercan Mehmet Erdem received the Turkish TV Prize for Best Screenplay in 2010. The novel Son hafriyat was filmed for the cinema under the title Seni Kalbime Gömdüm and had its premiere in October 2011 at the 48th Golden Orange Film Festival in Antalya .
Serbes moved to Istanbul in 2011 . Serbes is a member of Beşiktaş Çarşı , a fan group of the Beşiktaş Istanbul football club. He was a spokesman for the demonstrators at the 2013 protests in Turkey . In 2013, he was acquitted of the charge of insulting majesty and officials for joking about Prime Minister Erdogan . Since then, however, he has seen himself marginalized, and he is no longer given any writing jobs.
On September 22, 2017, Serbes was involved in a traffic accident in Izmir , as a result of which a Turkish family of three was killed. After a friend of his, who was also in the car, first took the blame on himself, Serbes published a written confession on social media six days after the accident, identifying him as the driver of the accident car. Serbes, who is said to have been under the influence of alcohol in the rear-end collision, was sentenced to 13 years and four months in prison in 2018. His friend, who was initially suspected, received a one-year prison sentence.
