Emy Ferjanc

Emy Ebner-Ferjanc (born October 9, 1917 in Vienna ; † August 28, 2010 there ) was an Austrian artist. She was a painter , graphic artist and ceramist and lived in Vienna. Their final resting place is in the Vienna Central Cemetery .

Life and works

Emy Ferjanc attended compulsory school in Vienna. From 1935 to 1940 she studied graphics with Kirnik at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna and from 1940 to 1945 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Dimmel. She completed her training in 1945 with a diploma. From 1946 she worked as a freelance artist in Vienna and Switzerland.

Between 1952 and 1955 she designed book covers and illustrations for various publishers such as Desch , Donauland , Herder and Wancura . Emy Ferjanc's work is characterized by versatility. Her estate includes hand drawings , watercolors , collages , oil and acrylic paintings, ceramics and wall designs made from various materials.

From 1959 to 1975 Ferjanc created numerous wall designs on public and private buildings. The artist created colored wall designs made of ceramic material for the city of Vienna in particular. The wall design in the administration building of the Inzersdorf wholesale market (1972, 18 m²), two large-format wall designs in the break hall in a school in Vienna 22 (1975, 43 m²) and a portal mosaic on a community building in Lazarettgasse have been preserved.

In 1979 Emy Ferjanc was awarded the professional title of Professor by the Federal Ministry for Education and the Arts .
