Main activity at a glance
An association that was founded in 2008 with the aim of actively supporting the Buschklinik in Endulen has become an organization that carries out sustainable projects in the health sector in Tanzania / East Africa . The areas of responsibility are:
- Construction projects and medical equipment
- Acute and emergency help
- Educational projects
Beginning
Maria Dillmann and Florian Schneider were "temporary missionaries". After their return they decided to want to improve the situation of the locals sustainably and founded the non-governmental organization "Endulen eV - Carry it in your heart!". Since it was founded in 2008, more than € 250,000 in donations have been collected (as of October 2016) and numerous projects have been put into practice. The name of the association was derived from the small village Endulen in northern Tanzania in the middle of the "Ngorongoro Conservation Area" ( Ngorongoro nature reserve). The village of Endulen is not connected to the water supply , road or electricity network. The nomadic tribe of the Maasai live there, completely isolated from civilization and technical progress. The only fortified building in the area is the 96-bed Endulen Hospital, which is responsible for the medical care of around 72,000 people. In the meantime, Endulen eV's aid projects are no longer limited to the Maasai area around Endulen, but projects in other regions of Tanzania are also supported.
Goal setting and mission
The association has made the following objectives its guiding principle:
- "We recognize the most important problem areas in the personal relationship with the Tanzanians and their living conditions."
- "We work with local people to plan and implement specific projects in the medical and health sector."
- "We encourage people here and there to develop their own ideas, put them into practice and take responsibility, and we see ourselves as networkers and mediators."
- "We provide - as far as we can - help for vital transport or operation costs."
- "We are also learners and gratefully accept what our African friends give us."
