history

Waterworks in Spradow. It is part of the Bünde list of monuments , No. T1.

In 1963, Energie- und Wasserversorgung Bünde GmbH was founded (previously Stadtwerke Bünde), but the history goes back much further. In 2013 the company celebrated its 50th anniversary as a GmbH and at the same time 110 years of water supply. In terms of gas supply, Energie- und Wasserversorgung Bünde GmbH can even look back on a 120-year history. The gas supply in Bünde and Ennigloh came from the lighting company. In the early years (founded in 1893) people obtained their lighting, cooking and power gas from it. Ten years later (1903) the Bünde waterworks was founded. The first well drilling was carried out on the Hüller. The height of the terrain in Kirchlengern, 60 m above the level of the city center, was ideal for the construction of the first elevated tank, as a natural inflow was possible there without the use of pumps. The increasing demand for water made it necessary to build the waterworks in Spradow in 1914. But even this was not enough. That is why the construction of the Kirchlengern-Hüller (1925), Muckum-Habighorst (1928) and Muckum-Billerke (1936) waterworks followed in the following decades. After the Bünde municipal utilities were reorganized into Energie- und Wasserversorgung Bünde GmbH in 1963, the expansion of the central water supply in the municipalities of Bünde, Kirchlengern and Rödinghausen began. In 2016, the new customer center with an attached administration building was completed.
